Before we dive in
Pokémon GO is a mobile game about discovering and collecting Pokémon. Players catch Pokémon, hatch Eggs and trade with other players to build their collections.
Events change which Pokémon and activities are available for a limited time. A Shiny Pokémon has a different colour scheme; an event debut does not mean every encounter will be Shiny. Check the announced dates before planning your playtime.
The update

Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek runs October 13–19. Bramblin appears among boosted Incense encounters, with additional opportunities through event research and the GO Pass. Brambleghast is also listed among the event’s new Pokémon.
Free Timed Research rewards walking progress and offers a visor-wearing Pikachu encounter. Other event activities include buddy-focused Field Research and a GO Pass with free and paid reward tracks. Check the in-game event screen for the local closing time before leaving tasks unfinished.
